After exactly 62 days, I FINALLY was able to get out and shoot!
Sierra & David’s session was an amazing way to jump back in! There were a couple of challenges, but Sierra & David were so kind and so sweet about all of the adjustments!
First, for the week prior to their session, the weather showed 80° and sunny, which is perfect photo weather! However, at about 4PM, 2.5 hours before their session, I saw some storm clouds and decided to do one last check of the weather and there was a severe thunderstorm coming…
I was so upset! I messaged Sierra right away. After looking at three different weather apps (and only believing the one that showed what I wanted), I saw the rain was supposed to end at 6:45. We pushed their session back 15 minutes and it worked out perfectly! For the couple hours before, I watched the radar almost consistently. It was a tad humid, but nothing we couldn’t handle!
Our second challenge was getting to the three locations before the sun set! These two came all the way from Kansas City to do their engagement session in the city where they met, in some of the most meaningful places.
We started off at the Oregon District. I love shooting in the Oregon District, especially in the historic streets. It’s one of the most beautiful places in Dayton. Sierra and David had their first date here! It was a great place to start off!
Next, we went to the 2nd Street Market for the Dayton Strong sign in the back parking lot! It’s such a unique and very significant spot!
We then moved on to the University of Dayton. This is where Sierra and David met! They went to law school together! I’ve never really explored the UD campus but it’s absolutely gorgeous! Once on the campus, I noticed some amazing light and of course, we had to stop because I can’t waste light like that!
This was the best restart I could of asked for!
